Dr Katie Russell

Psychologist

From a young age, Katie has loved psychology and always knew that she wanted to pursue this as a career. She studied for a psychology degree at university and then went on to complete her Clinical psychology training at UCL; a process that took a total of 8 years!

For much of her career, Katie has worked for the NHS, in various settings including Great Ormond Street Hospital. She has a specialism in eating disorders and whilst working at St George’s Trust National Eating Disorder Service in London, she co-authored a treatment manual on CBT. With over 30 years of experience in all areas of adult and adolescent mental health, Dr Katie now teaches, supervises, and trains others in the subject. This involves running workshops in schools and businesses as well as presenting at conferences (both nationally and internationally). She now works in the Independent sector and is Co-Director of Zababa Ltd, a team providing psychology services across the lifespan.

Having spent time with her family living overseas, Dr Katie has a rich understanding of working across different cultures and with families displaced from their country of origin.Katie describes her method of work: “In all areas of my professional life, I draw from a substantial history of clinical experience, together with knowledge and training of theoretical models, to collaborate with those I work with on interventions and treatment. I have never lost sight of what a privilege it is to share a part in people's lives”.

Dr Katie is available at Richmond every Monday.
