Dr Philippa Parson

Menopause GP

Philippa qualified as a GP in 2014 and currently works at an NHS practice in Surrey. Her passion for women's health care came from working with an inspiring gynaecology team as a student at the University of Nottingham. This interest continued and Philippa went on to gain a Diploma in Obstetrics and Gynaecology and Sexual and Reproductive Health, in addition to qualifications for the insertion of implants, coils and pessaries, which she fits regularly at her practice. Philippa is also a member of the British Menopause Society and is currently completing the Advanced Specialist in Menopause certificate.

As a GP with an interest in women’s health, Philippa sees a large proportion of the practice’s patients who are consulting about peri-menopause, premature ovarian insufficiency, contraception, dysfunctional bleeding, prolapse and urinary problems related to menopause.

“Many women wait a long time before consulting about these problems and I am relieved that finally there is a growing public awareness, not only of the struggles that menopause can bring, but of the potential solutions as well. By really listening to your individual concerns with compassion and empathy, I can help you understand the choices you have in order to make an individual holistic management plan. It is a privilege to work with women who feel able to share these concerns with me and see huge improvements to their quality of life.”In her spare time, Philippa likes to practice what she preaches and enjoys running, circuit training and climbing.
